Martin Gleeson is widely renowned as the best British centre around. He is famous for his ability to side-step while carrying the ball and his assists went a long way to assuring Henry Fa'afili was the top try scorer in 2007. Born in Wigan, but brought up in Brisbane, Gleeson learnt the trade with the Brisbane junior club.
Gleeson is usually the first name on the Great Britain team list and has certainly become a tireless workhorse since joining Warrington from St Helens in 2004. He will have a different player on each side of him in 2008 and will certainly be buoyed by the help he gets in defence from Chris Hicks on his outside.
