Salary Cap
Super League clubs will be subject to a salary cap of £1,600,000 and will all start with a balance of £400,000.
National League One clubs will be subject to a salary cap of £400,000 and will start with a balance of £200,000. However, the club relegated from Super League in the previous season will be subject to a salary cap of £550,000.
When making any signings please check that you have space on the salary cap or else your club could be fined or suffer a point’s deduction.
Transfer Deadline
Permanent transfers and loan deals will be permitted up until round 16 of the season. Players may be signed from the free agent list up until round 22 of the season.
No transfers or signings will be permitted once the play-offs have commenced.
Transfers
You are free to negotiate trade deals, free transfers or cash transfers but please note that all deals will be subject to approval by the GM to ensure they are not overly detrimental to one of the teams involved.
The following guidelines will give you some idea of how much players are worth:
£200,000+ - The very best players in the game
£50,000+ - Players who make a significant impact in Super League
£30,000+ - Players who make a significant impact in National League One
Transfers should be negotiated privately via email, the PM system or in the relevant transfer discussion thread on the forum. Once a deal had been agreed both parties must post confirmation in the relevant thread on the RLC forum.
When signing a player a club must detail the wage they wish to offer any new signing bearing in mind the player’s current deal. A player moving to SL from NL1 would be looking for a wage increase where as a player moving the other way may consider a drop in salary. It is your responsibility to ensure that any proposed deal will not take your club over the salary cap.
The GM will then review the deal and process this assuming he is happy that the proposed transfer is fair for all parties.
Loans
It is possible to a player to be loaned from one club to another. Loan deals must be for a minimum of four rounds and a player cannot be recalled unless otherwise agreed beforehand. Clubs may agree to split the cost of the player’s wages and this would impact on their relevant salary caps immediately. Therefore, please ensure you have space on the cap to accommodate the player.
Contracts
Each player in your squad is signed to a one year contract, therefore at the end of each season all of your players will technically become free agents.
However, dependent upon your team’s performance you will have the option to retain a certain amount of your current squad at the end of each season. You do not have to retain this number of players, it is your choice. The following scale will apply:
1st: 20 players
2nd: 18 players
3rd – 6th: 16 players
7th – 9th: 14 players
10th – 11th: 12 players
12th: 10 players
Any player you choose to retain will normally be happy to resign on their current terms. However, from time to time a player may request an improved contract and you will be advised of this by the GM.
Those players you do not choose to retain will become free agents and all clubs, including your own, will be able to attempt to sign them.
Free Agents
The GM will maintain a database of all players who are not contracted to a club. This is known as the free agents database.
These players are available to sign at any time. To sign a player from this list you must send an email to rlcoach@lasttackle.com outlining the salary you are prepared to offer. Free agent signings are processed at 6.00 PM every Wednesday meaning players will be available to play in that weekends match.
Imports
The GM will also maintain a database of players who have agreed to join a Super League club in real life from a club playing in the NRL. This is known as the imports database.
These players are only available to sign when the GM opens the imports database, typically towards the end of the season with players agreeing to join clubs for the start of the following campaign.
Should a player move to his British club immediately he will be added to the free agents database and not the imports database.
Releasing Players
It is possible to release a player from his contract at any time. To do this you must send an email to rlcoach@lasttackle.com confirming the release and the player would then be added to the free agents database.
When you release a player you must pay the player 25% of his contract by way of compensation.
So a player earning £100,000 would be paid £25,000 should you decide to release him.
Retirement
When a player retires from the game in real life he will also retire from RLC, however not until the end of the current season.
This also applies to player who may switch codes or move to the NRL to play.
