National League fixtures to be moved
Co-Operative National League club chairmen have agreed that the clubs should not have any fixtures on the May Bank Holiday weekend so as not to clash with "Millennium Magic".
At a meeting in Halifax the chairmen voted unanimously for a proposal that would see National League fixtures played on the Friday before and the Monday after the Millennium Magic weekend.
This will prevent National League fans having to miss out either on the Cardiff event or their own club's league fixtures and could boost the attendance at the Millennium Stadium.
Nigel Wood, the RFL’s chief operating officer, said: “The feedback we received from clubs after this year’s event was that in 2008 we should try make the weekend more inclusive giving the whole Rugby League family the opportunity to attend.
“A number of fans also informed us that they couldn’t attend this year because it clashed with their team playing a Co-Operative National League game.
"We’ve now removed that obstacle so that more people can attend in 2008.”
