Manly to field full-strength side in WCC

Manly Sea Eagles will be bringing a full-strength squad to England to face Leeds Rhinos in the 2009 Carnegie World Club Challenge.
Australian sides are often accused of not taking the one-off game seriously, but coach Des Hasler says he will bring as many first-team players as possible.
The club’s five World Cup players – David Williams, Anthony Watmough, Brent Kite, Josh Perry and Glenn Stewart – are all included, as is ex-St Helens centre Jamie Lyon.
“We will bring all our World Cup stars, new buys and the players still with us who played in the Grand Final win against Melbourne Storm last October,” said Hasler.
The Sea Eagles will also be playing Harlequins in a warm-up game prior to the show down with Leeds, a game which Hasler feels is important for his side’s preparations.
Full-back Brent Stewart who sat out of the World Cup with a knee injury is to make his comeback in the game against Quins.
“The London match is vitally important for players to get an opportunity to play a game in English conditions prior to the match against Leeds.
“I will field as many players as possible against Quins. We will be up against it weather-wise but we are arriving early and the players will have two weeks to get used to the English winter.
“Having said that, we will have no excuses if we are beaten: Manly are coming to play.”
Leeds Rhinos are the current holders of the World Club Challenge having beaten Melbourne Storm 11-4 at Elland Road and could be first ever team to retain the title.
