Castleford coach Terry Matterson has praised the club's fans after they cheered the Tigers on to a 24-10 win at Headingley on Friday.

Joe Westerman put in a sterling display as Castleford shocked the champions on their own patch, and Matterson said: "They turned up in big numbers and filled the Western Terrace. The boys really did feed from the enthusiasm of the crowd.

"We’re really looking forward to returning to the Jungle. It would be great if we could see a big crowd, it makes such a difference. Last season’s form is something we are all looking to make amends for. We’re determined to make the Jungle a fortress."

Castleford lost just three games away from home last season, but it was their home form that let them down, despite a respectable 7th placed finish.

They host Warrington on Saturday (5.45 kick-off) in the SKY televised match.

Tigers head of marketing and development Simon Mowbray said: "The first home game of every season is always a big occasion and with a great win against the Champions under our belt, the excitement around the Town is even better now.

"We are expecting a bumper crowd for what promises to be an exciting must-see encounter against the big spenders of engage Super League."
