Leroy Cudjoe grabbed a delightful brace as Huddersfield brushed aside Bradford Bulls at a foggy Galpharm Stadium.

The Giants dominated proceedings after a few early scares and built up a 16-0 lead before Bradford fought back, orchestrated by Australian Matt Orford.

Much of the pre-match talk had been about how Orford would perform following his first hit-out against Hull KR last week and it looked to be that he had maintained that form as Bradford started the game well.

But a litany of errors cost the Bulls going forward and Huddersfield were perhaps somewhat fortuitous when they completed a beautiful move for the first try of the game.

Luke Robinson, who showed his class throughout, initiated the move with a jinking run before the ball was spread out to Cudjoe who dived over in the corner, captain Brett Hodgson converting.

That lead was extended nine minutes later when a superbly hoisted chip by Hodgson was met by Cudjoe in open space to scamper over.

If Steve McNamara's men were on the back foot then, they would have been unhappy about the third try as hooker Shaun Lunt capitalised on poor defence to score from close range and give the Giants a well-earned 16-0 lead.

The Bulls tried to get ball in to the Giants half but lost their pressure through silly errors. They did get some respite, however, when Stuart Reardon scored in the corner, starting a brief miniature revival.

Orford produced a perfectly weighted kick for Sheriffe to go over in the corner before half-time but the tide turned back in the Giants favour once more after the interval.

New Zealand forward David Fa'alogo showed his pedigree when he powered over and that lead was extended by an Hodgson penalty to give the Giants a commanding 24-8 lead.

Luke Robinson was then sin-binned for holding down as the Giants ill-discipline started to affect their play and that started to instigate the slight scent of a comeback for the Bulls.

As the fog continued to roll in and visibility becoming poorer, Bradford did score to give themselves hope through Reardon again after Lee Gilmour followed his team-mate to the sin-bin for taking a man out off the ball.

Despite some late pressure in which Bradford really should have scored, Huddersfield's defence clung on to grab a deserved victory and continue their good form that saw them finish third last season.
