Bennett testimonial called off
Despite a great effort from fans, volunteers and the first team squad Mike Bennett’s Testimonial game against Barrow Raiders on Sunday has been called off.
Saints and Mike Bennett would like to thank everyone who pitched in yesterday to clear the snow but the adverse weather conditions have unfortunately resulted in the game’s cancellation.
Mike Bennett said: “It was heart-warming to see the number of fans, volunteers, Saints staff and my former teammates helping to clear the pitch yesterday.
“It is very much appreciated and I would like to thank them all for their help.
“Unfortunately, the weather has beaten us but I will be touched by the response of my friends for a long time to come.”
St Helens' focus will now turn to their friendly game against Widnes at the Stobart Stadium on Tuesday, where the clubs will play for the Karalius Cup.
