Super League clubs hunt super fans

Super League clubs hunt super fans

All 14 Super League clubs have launched a search for their most knowledgeable and passionate supporter ahead of the season launch day.

The season launch takes place at the Trafford Centre in Manchester on Saturday January 23 and every Super League club will be represented by a Super Fan in the interactive Rugby League-themed quiz which will take place on the Orient Stage.

To find the most Super League-savvy supporter, a number of heats will be held at the Trafford Centre with the winners progressing to the final where the overall prize will be two Super Saver Passports which give entry to the Magic Weekend, Carnegie Challenge Cup Final and the Engage Super League Grand Final.

RFL Marketing Manager Phil Williams said: “I’m sure the Super Fan contest will capture the imagination of supporters of Engage Super League teams and there will no doubt be fierce competition between the fans.

“The on-stage competition will bring even more fun and excitement to the Engage Super League Fans’ Day at the Trafford Centre, an event that no Rugby League supporter should miss.”

To be in with a chance of representing your club in the Super League Super Fan contest, all supporters need to do is state in no more than 250 words why they should represent the club and e-mail their reason to competitions@rfl.uk.com before Monday January 18.

Entrants need to be 18 years or over and must be available to attend the Trafford Centre on the afternoon of Saturday January 23. The prize for representing your club at the Trafford Centre will be a pair of tickets to the Engage Super League Grand Final which takes place at Old Trafford on October 2.

As well as the Super League Super Fan competition, the Trafford Centre event will host appearances from leading Engage Super League personalities, fantastic Rugby League action video footage, live music and dancing and opportunities to win Grand Final tickets.

The Engage Super League trophy and Carnegie Challenge Cup will also be on display and supporters will have the chance to have their photograph taken with the iconic pieces of silverware.

Mascots from the clubs will also be on hand to give the event some added fun and will be accompanied by Sid the Savings Pig - the official mascot of Super League‘s title sponsor, Engage Mutual Assurance.

The Engage Super League Fan Day takes place on Saturday January 23 when the on-stage action will kick off at 2.00pm in The Orient and will continue until 3.45pm. Free parking is available at the Trafford Centre.

The Engage Super League season kicks off on Friday January 29 with a match between defending champions Leeds Rhinos and Crusaders at the competition’s newest venue, the Racecourse Ground in Wrexham.
