NRL team of the week - Round 20

NRL team of the week - Round 20

Another actioned packed round of NRL action saw some superb individual performances, plenty of top class tries and there were even a couple of shocks that will ensure a fascinating end to the season.

Player of the Week: Petero Civoniceva (Broncos)

The big man set the standard for a Broncos outfit deprived of fellow stars Lockyer, Hunt and Hodges. The Suncorp crowd will certainly miss Petero when he heads off to join the Panthers. His trademark block busting runs laid the platform for a Broncos win over the Sharks.

Team of the Week:

Brett Stewart (Sea Eagles)
John Williams (Roosters)
Willie Tonga (Bulldogs)
Jamie Lyon (Sea Eagles)
Eric Grothe (Eels)
Braith Anasta (Roosters)
Benji Marshall (Tigers)
Petero Civoniceva (Broncos)
Robbie Farah (Tigers)
Steve Price (Warriors)
Sonny Bill Williams (Bulldogs)
Craig Fitzgibbon (Roosters)
Ben Creagh (Dragons)

This is a team I would pay to watch. Manly's Brett Stewart maintained his brilliant 2007 form with a couple of tries in the Sea Eagles victory over the Eels and takes our fullback spot. Our wing pairing of the Eels Eric Grothe, who scored a superb individual try, and John Williams was key to the Roosters shock over against Melbourne.

Jamie Lyon, who shrugged off the Eels supporters cat calls to produce his best performance of the season, is joined by the Bulldogs Willie Tonga in the centres, Tonga looks to be getting back to his best at the right time.

In the halves we hand the number six jersey to Braith Anasta, he was at the heart of a great Roosters performance. Anasta is joined by Benji Marshall, the Tigers man made a fine return from injury and had a major role in another impressive Wests victory.

These two would link up with our hooker Robbie Farah and form an exciting playmaking triangle, Farah was back to his best as he returned to the number nine jersey for the Tigers.

Our all-Queensland front-row pairing of Warriors captain Steve Price and player of the week Petero Civoniceva would take some stopping whilst the Roosters Craig Fitzgibbon is joined by the Bulldogs Sonny Bill Williams in the back row.

Finally, the number thirteen jersey will be filled by the Dragons Ben Creagh who has been in superb from throughout 2007.
