Anderson set for World Cup with Tonga

Kiwi second rower Louis Anderson has won his fight to play for Tonga in the World Cup.

The Warrington forward, 23, won 13 caps for New Zealand, but has now been given the go ahead to switch nations.

Under Rugby League International Federation rules, players who are eligible to play for more than one country can make one application to switch their allegiance in any two-year period.

However, Anderson must await clearance from his club over an arm injury that saw him miss the end of the Super League season.

Tonga face Ireland in Parramatta on October 27th in a group that also includes Samoa.

Kiwi Ben Roberts was given clearance to play for Samoa whilst Australia Jarryd Hayne will represent Fiji. The RLIF executive also gave Antonio Kaufusi clearance to play for Tonga.

However, they have been dealt a blow with the news that NRL duo Fuifui Moimoi and Taniela Tuiaki will not be eligible to play for them in the World Cup, a year after they both successfully swithced to New Zealand.
