England World Cup squad announced

Leeds winger Lee smith has been rewarded for his man of the match performance in the Grand Final with a place in the England squad for the World Cup.

Smith is one of eight Rhinos players included by Tony Smith, the former Leeds Head Coach, in the 24 man squad.

Seven St Helens players are also in the squad, including the last three winners of the Man of Steel accolade - James Graham, James Roby and Paul Wellens.

Three Wigan players - Gareth Hock, Mickey Higham and Mark Calderwood - are included, alongside Warrington trio Adrian Morley, Ben Westwood and Martin Gleeson.

16 of the 19 players that were in the squad to face France earlier in the year are included, with only the injured Sam Burgess, Joe Westerman and Hull KR winger Peter Fox missing out.

England fly out to Australia on Monday ahead of their first game against Papua New Guinea in Townsville on October 25th.

They face Wales in a friendly this Friday at Doncaster's Keepmoat Stadium.
