Briers may miss Wales-Lebanon qualifier

Wales may have to face Lebanon in Friday’s repechage semi finals without Lee Briers after the Warrington stand-off limped off from Sunday’s game against Scotland.
Briers appeared to have suffered a recurrence of an ankle injury and there are doubts over whether he will recover in time to face the Lebanese.
Wales won that game 18-16 but Scotland went through to the finals after winning the first leg in Bridgend 21-14 last year.
Coach Martin Hall will choose his squad at training on Thursday but will not announce the line up until the game at Widnes’ Halton Stadium on Friday evening.
“We'll be back together on Thursday and we'll find out then who's fit and who's not,” he said.
Should Wales beat Lebanon they will face off with the winners of the Samoa-USA clash for the tenth and final World Cup place in Featherstone on Thursday night.
Lebanon have lost a number of players from their squad through work commitments, as Sydney Roosters scrum-half George Ndaira is the only full-time player in their squad.
However a number of replacements have been drafted in, prop Ray Moujalli saying: “We've lost a couple of players but actually brought a few in from Australia.”
With several players undergoing treatment for injuries 41-year-old coach Darren Maroon may resort to bringing himself into the starting seventeen.
