Gold Coast Titans look set to be without scrum half Scott Prince for the rest of the season after the former Wests Tigers star sustained a broken arm during Queensland's 16-10 victory over New South Wales in the State of Origin series decider.
Prince underwent surgery at a private hosptial after doctors confirmed he had suffered a broken forearm. A plate has been inserted into the arm and he has been ruled out of action for around 12 weeks.
Prince set up the first try during Wednesday's victory for Israel Folau with a pinpoint crossfield kick before breaking his arm in a tackle after 15 minutes.
"It was a bittersweet night for myself, disappointed about the injury but very proud and honoured to be a Queenslander today," revealed Prince..
Prince admitted he knew he was in big trouble as soon as he sustained the injury.
"There was a bit of movement in there when I made the tackle and when I pushed myself off the ground I could feel it crackle and grind away there so I knew something serious was done," he said.
With just 10 rounds of regular NRL season action remaining Prince's return will hinge on the Titans reaching the NRL finals.
Gold Coast coach John Cartwright, who recently lost the services of star forward Luke Bailey to injury, attempted to put on a brave face.
"It's a big blow to us and a bigger blow to Princey," said Cartwright.
"I am sure he would have loved to have finished the game on a high with his mates.
"You've got to have played Origin to know what it feels like and to get busted like that in the first 15 minutes would be very disappointing for him.
"Take your general out of any side and it's going to hurt. But life goes on."
