Harlequins have signed Australian Chad Robinson on a two year deal starting next season.
The 27 year old utility forward will make the move to London from Australian NRL club Parramatta Eels, where he made his first grade debut at age 19. Apart from 3 years with the Sydney Roosters between 2002 and 2005, Robinson has played all his professional Rugby League with the Eels.
Robinson is a hardworking forward who primarily plays in the Second Row but can easily slot in at Loose Forward or Prop.
In looking ahead to 2009 this has been a crucial role for Harlequins RL Head Coach Brain McDermott to fill.
“This is a position that we have been looking to recruit for for quite some time. Since the beginning of last season we haven’t really filled it, commented McDermott.
“While we will still continue to show faith in our youth we need to have a seasoned player in this position and we are very pleased that that person is Chad” he went on to say.
Robinson himself is also delighted with the prospect of joining Harlequins RL to part of Super League in the Capital, saying:
“The more I read and research about London and Harlequins RL the more excited I get.”
“From my interaction so far with the club they seem to be very professional and well directed so I am expecting likewise when I arrive to play in the English Super League.”
“I'm looking forward to meeting my new team mates and Coach, and also catching up with a few of the players in the team that I already know.”
Robinson is expected to arrive in London in November of this year to join the Harlequins RL squad for the start of pre-season training
