England boss Tony Smith has said he is “delighted” with his squad for the mid-season international against France in Toulouse tonight.
Hull KR winger Peter Fox will be making his international debut as a replacement for the injured Gareth Raynor, while Ben Westwood and Joe Westerman dropped out of the 19-man squad.
Leon Pryce will partner Rob Burrow in the halves after the St Helens man was preferred at stand off to Burrow’s Leeds teammate Danny McGuire.
"I am delighted with this team - it's a big pack but the French are a big team also and we need to more than match them in that area and I believe this team will”, said Smith.
“We want to dominate in the forwards to give our backs a chance to play some rugby league.”
“The trip to France will give us good experience ahead of the World Cup. I won't just be looking at how they perform on the pitch this week but also how they interact with each other in camp,” he added.
“This is their opportunity to impress and, providing they maintain their form over the remainder of the season, potentially book their flights to Australia for the World Cup.”
