Wigan Chairman Ian Lenagan and Chief Executive Joe Lydon have announced the structure of a new management board at the club to take the Warriors in to the licence era.
It will involve Lydon moving to a new role of Performance Director, following the appointment of Mick Hogan as Chief Executive at the club.
Hogan, 37, has spent the past four years as a Commercial Director of Newcastle Falcons, where he has also previously worked as a Marketing Manager. He has also spent time as Community Marketing Manager for the RFU, and prior to that was the development officer for rugby league in the North East for seven years, before a one year spell as Gateshead Thunder Marketing Manager.
He will now be responsible for all day-to-day operations including the entire commercial area, community development and the new Wigan RL Charitable Foundation.
Lyon meanwhile will now be responsible for the recruitment, development and performance of all Wigan players, coaches and associated staff ranging from Scholarship to the First Team Squad.
Ian Lenagan, Chairman said: “Winning trophies and making a profit are the two most important targets for Wigan Rugby League Club in the near future. Joe Lydon and Mick Hogan in their new roles are exceptionally well equipped to help us achieve this.”
Joe Lydon said: "I am delighted to welcome Mick Hogan to the Club as the new Chief Executive and believe his appointment together with the newly formed Management Board clearly signifies the club's intention to appoint and promote experienced management across all areas of the business providing greater opportunity for success on and off the field.
"My role as Performance Director affords me the opportunity to utilise the experiences I have gained in professional rugby over the past 26 years and to provide direction, support and management to the athletes, coaches, staff and various teams within the core area of the Club’s business."
Mick Hogan said: “I'm delighted to be joining the Club I consider to be the biggest name in Rugby League and am excited at the prospect of working alongside Ian, Joe and Peter and playing my part in returning the glory days to Wigan Warriors.
“There are few clubs I would have left Newcastle Falcons for but Wigan is at the top of that very short list. I can't wait to get started and to begin work with the Management Board and with the talented Wigan staff members I have already heard about."
Peter Higginbottom remains as club President, and the club are in currently in the process of appointing a full time Financial Director.
