The new England Rugby League shirt, launched last Monday, is proving to be the fastest selling international shirt yet.
According to figures from Genesis Group International, the RFL’s official merchandise partner, supporters have purchased twice as many of the Puma branded shirts in the first three days of sale than any other international jersey.
And despite the fact that the shirt won’t be delivered until the day merchandise goes on general sale, 18 July, it looks likely that the shirt could become a best seller.
Phil Williams, the RFL’s Marketing Manager, said: “It appears that supporters are clearly embracing the new England brand and are excited about our prospects for the World Cup.
“As well as supporters snapping up the new shirt in record quick time, the new England Rugby League website has proven a big hit with supporters.”
More than 50,000 visitors logged onto www.englandrl.co.uk on Monday when it was launched, and traffic to the site has remained heavy throughout the week.
The new website contains everything supporters might want to know about the present national side and includes a comprehensive statistics section which lists every player to have played for England or Great Britain.
It also features a regularly updated blog from England coach Tony Smith, who next week will posting regular blogs in the build-up to the Gillette Fusion International between England and France in Toulouse.
From Monday (23 June) the site will also include interviews with a number of players selected in Smith’s squad to face the French.
The Official Limited Edition 2008 England Rugby League World Cup replica Kit, Trainingwear and Accessories are now available to pre-order.
The England Merchandise can be purchased via www.rugbyleagueonline.co.uk or by calling 0870 241 6821, weekdays 8am-5pm.
