Harlequins Rugby League Head Coach Brian McDermott has committed himself to the club for a further three years.
This new agreement will see McDermott stay at The Stoop until the end of 2011.
The ex-Great Britain International, who was appointed Harlequins RL Head Coach initially in July 2006, has showed a real commitment and dedication to the development of Rugby League in London and The South and is pleased with the opportunity to continue the work he is carrying out in the capital.
McDermott has commented:
“I am very honoured and excited to be staying with the club. There has been a massive amount of hard work done over the last few years down here and I am really pleased to be seeing the job through.”
Harlequins Rugby League are equally pleased that McDermott has agreed to re-commit himself to the club with Quins RL Chairman, Keith Hogg, saying:
"I am absolutely delighted that we have agreed terms with Brian for the next 3 years. His reputation as one of the bright young coaching talents in British Rugby League is well deserved.”
“He constantly demonstrates fantastic commitment to Harlequins Rugby League and the sport in general in London and the South East. He is respected and liked by all those that he comes into contact with.”
“Brian's appointment is a key step in the development of our club. We have agreed a new contract with a very talented coach who cares deeply about the performance of the club and will continue to drive us forward” he added.
As London's Super League club, Harlequins RL continues to take significant steps in 2008 in building the long-term strength of the club, with seven Academy trained players in this week's 19 man line-up to face Leeds and a series of promising announcements to come over the next two months, headed by the re-signing of Brian McDermott.
