Batley Bulldogs will have the chance to put right their disappointing result to local rivals Dewsbury in last night’s fixture next week when their semi-final game against Doncaster is to be shown live on Sky Sports on Thursday, 7.30pm kick off. Danny Maun may face a long ban after a his vicious attack on Celtic Crusaders Jace Van Dijk.

Van Dijk, a huge influence on the Welsh side’s success this term, will miss at least three months. He said, “It was a pretty nasty one – the surgeon has said that I’m out for three months. In regards to treatment, they can’t do much. I have four plates, two on the left side and two on the right side, screwed in to hold my jaw.”

Dewsbury’s acting coach Warren Jowitt strengthened his claims on securing the job on a part-time basis after masterminding the Rams first victory of the season last night. The Yorkshire outfit are still on the lookout after Keighley’s Barry Eaton turned down the post last month. He said, "If it was full-time I would struggle, because I've got a business to run, but if it's part time I definitely want it." Dewsbury also completed the resigning of Rochdale hooker James Elston last week.

David Hobbs, Featherstone’s Coach, has turned up the heat and challenged his players to grab their first away victory this weekend. Rovers secured a fine victory over full-time Widnes on Sunday and will be hoping to build on their recent form. "Whitehaven will be buoyant after beating Salford but we go there with refreshed enthusiasm and belief, knowing that we can go into any game and compete with the best,” said Hobbs. Tony Tonks, who missed the game with a knee problem, is Hobbs' only injury worry.

Halifax have serious concerns over skipper Sean Penkywicz ahead of Sunday's trip to Widnes. His absence will have a direct affect on Fax handing the returning Ben Black his debut. Hooker Janan Billings is currently occupying Fax's overseas quota spot, with his application for British citizenship still delayed at the Home Office.

Leigh Centurions have been dealt a huge blow as prop Andy Hobson, in a rich vain of form, faces six weeks on the sidelines after breaking his arm in his side’s clash with Dewsbury. Toa Kohe Love and Mike Morrison should play, the latter returning from a suspension after failure to pay a fine imposed by the RFL.

Salford coach Shaun McRae has confirmed that there may not be any further signings in the near future. McRae said, "I have been looking for a utility player to replace Jiminez since February but I have not been able to find a suitable player who is available. We are halfway through the season and we may not bring someone in now.” He added that this may change if his charges are hit by injuries, a run of defeats or their place in Super League is confirmed.

Damian Reid will return to the Sheffield line-up tonight just two weeks after being released from prison, ironically against the club that rejected him. Salford ripped up Reid’s contract when he was jailed in the close season. The 24-year-old will wear an ankle tag - part of the conditions of his release from jail after serving three months for an assault. Coach Mark Ashton said, "Damien is ready and I'm looking for a special performance from him."

Ged Stokes has reiterated Whitehaven’s desire to keep hold of teenage prospect Gregg McNally, to the end of the season at least. McNally has attracted interest from a number of Super League clubs after making a three-try scoring debut in Haven’s televised victory over Salford. The seventeen-year-old is still completing his A-Level studies and may wait until they are over before he makes a move. Spencer Miller will make his landmark 200th appearance for Whitehaven

Steve McCormack has underlined his determination to turn things around after the Vikings suffered their second successive defeat at Featherstone at the weekend. He said, "We have still got belief. Yes, we were very poor in our previous two games, but that doesn’t mean we don’t believe we can turn it round.” McCormack may hand a starting berth to French International prop Adel Fellous who made an impressive debut at the weekend off the bench. Fellous, initially signed on a one month deal, has had spells with Catalans and Hull. “He came off the bench and made a big impact and that’s what we brought him in for,” added the Vikings coach.
