St Helens forward Mike Bennett playing career may be at an end, after it was confirmed that the 28 year old requires shoulder surgery for a third time.
Bennett, who picked up the injury during Sunday's 16-8 win over Hull FC, has been ruled out for the remainder of the 2008 season.
Bennett is set to undergo surgery in the near future and, depending on the extent of the injury, he may be forced to call time on his playing career.
"There is a genuine worry that it is career threatening" revealed Saints coach Daniel Anderson.
"He was very upset after the game because he knew it was the same shoulder that he's had two operations on.
"It is not nice but all we can do is wait for advice from the specialists.
"He will be given every bit of advice and plenty of support from the club."
Bennett has made fourteen appearances for St Helens so far this season.
