St Helens fans have planned a Stadium Support March ahead of the game with Catalans on Saturday and are urging other supporters to join them.
The SBS (Supporters backing the Stadium) met with police and the Events Planning Officer from the local council last night with both parties happy for the march to take place.
SBS aim to progress the plans to build a new stadium for St Helens and are urging members of the community and of course St Helens fans to join the march.
A statement from SBS read:
"The route is as follows: Leave the town hall and walk down Corporation Street and then down Duke Street to the traffic lights. Turn left into Boundary Road and then at the top turn right into Knowsley Road and then up to the ground.
The Police are expecting to provide some Mounted Patrols and some Police Outriders as well. We have told them that we will provide 50 marshalls all in hi-viz jackets who will all need to be briefed prior to the march starting. This briefing will be done with the Police and those involved will need to turn up probably around 3pm for the briefing.
Their main question is how many people are going to turn up. This will determine whether the march will be pavement based or road based.
We would like it to be road based as it would be a great to see thousands of Saints holding up the traffic and give the event a lot more publicity.
If we can go back to the police and tell them that from the online users we have deduced therewill be so many, then hopefully that could be doubled or trebled from the press releases that will go out in the next couple of days.
We have already had pledges of support for the march from our MPs and council members., some of whom will be in attendance.
The planned meet up is in Victoria Square at around 3.30/3.45pm."
