Wigan never let off from the first minute to the last, with Iafeta Palea'aesina scoring the first try of the game after just two minutes, and the last on the hooter.
Pat Richards kicked 17 conversions to send Wigan through to face Leeds in the Quarter Finals.
Sam Tomkins scored five tries, Trent Barrett three, while there were braces for Mark Calderwood and Harrison Hansen.
Whitehaven could score just two tries, through Ade Adebisi and Rob Jackson.
