The site for Dairy Farmer’s Stadium is located in the former Willow’s Sporting Complex. Before North Queensland Cowboy’s were admitted to the ARL in 1995, the complex was used primarily as a trotting track. The Cowboy’s admission meant that the need for a rugby league venue was established.
Originally known as Stockland Stadium (1995-1998), then Malanda Stadium (1999), Dairy Farmer’s Stadium was partially redeveloped in 2005-2006 in order to extend the East stand and include more seating, bringing the capacity to 25,000. The record attendance at the Stadium was set on 25/04/1997 for an NRL game against the Brisbane Broncos. The original attendance when the venue was converted to a rugby stadium was 31.000 however the addition of extra seats reduced the capacity to its current number.
In the Tournament it will be hosting two group A matches, firstly with England taking on Papua New Guinea, then the Australians taking on the Pacific side.
