Gold Coast Titan’s brand new stadium, constructed by the same company who built Suncorp Stadium, will effectively be a smaller version of the Final’s venue.
Originally planned to hold 25,000, constructors mid-build realised that they could fit in an extra 2,000 and so extended the capacity to the final 27,000 figure. The stadium may also be home to Gold Coast’s AFL team, Gold Coast Galaxy.
Funded by the Queensland Government, over 7,200 cubic metres of cement were required for the build, which is located in Robina, a suburb of Brisbane, on the Gold Coast. Situated next to the Robina Railway, there is no public car park at the Ground and so free transport, including rail and shuttle buses are to be arranged for match days.
Officially completed in February 2008, and with the Stadium’s first event on the 1st of March, this brand new $160,000,000 stadium will be a showpiece for the World Cup in November.
