Following his great start to Super League XIII Wakefield Wildcats' scrum-half Danny Brough has been selected to captain Scotland in this year's Rugby League World Cup.
Brough joined Wakefield ahead of the current campaign, where his rugby career first began. Last year Brough helped Castleford gain promotion back to the elite division and will face his former club this Friday at Belle Vue.
Brough qualifies for Scotland through his Glasgow-born grand-father and first got his opportunity at International level with them, thus why the half-back has opted to stay loyal to Scotland ruling himself out of a possible England call-up.
Head Coach and Football Director at Belle Vue John Kear is delighted by Brough's appointment:
"I'm very pleased for Danny. He's stayed loyal to Scotland for several years not just as the World Cup approaches and I believe Steve McCormack has made the right decision in rewarding Danny's loyalty and giving a natural leader the Captain's arm-band."
