After originally agreeing to sign for Leeds in time for the 2007 season, Toopi was granted an early release from his Warriors contract and signed for Leeds just before the transfer deadline in August 2006. He made his debut just a few days later against Hull FC
A strong and very underrated part of the Leeds three quarter line, Toopi was a replacement for the sometime selfish Chev Walker. Whoever plays outside Toopi sees a lot more ball than they would have alongside Walker.
