Motu has been one of the wonders of the black and whites over the course of the past 3 years. Tony was regarded as one of the best utility players in the game, covering prime positions at full back, on the wing, centres and at hooker. The kiwi born talent was in the New Zealand touring squad which won the Gillete Fusion Tri Nations in 2006, where he starred at hooker.
At the back end of 2007, Head Coach Peter Sharp made a pivotal decision to move Motu into the number 1 role on a permanent basis, leaving a bleak future for current fullback Shaun Briscoe, who then went on to sign for Hull Kingston Rovers. He has now been given the number 1 shirt officially.
