Howell fills the void left by Paul Sykes, who left Quins to join Bradford. He was persuaded to move to The Stoop by Gafa and McLinden, two former Canberra players. Howell was released from the final year of his contract with the Raiders to move to London, after he was told he wouldn't get a deal after 2008 anyway.
He has scored a total of 20 tries in 60 appearances in the NRL with St George and Canberra. He was rumoured to be on the way to Wigan before Brian McDermott stepped in to fill what was a problem area in his team. Howell, 24, has signed a two year deal with Quins, but has stated that he plans to return to Australia after that.
