London born McCarthy-Scarsbrook carries a weight of expectation on his shoulder, after making a great impact on the Quins side in 2007. His local links make him a favourite with fans, and he is hoping to inspire the younger generation to take up the game of rugby league in London and follow in his footsteps.
He started out at Greenwich Admirals, before being picked up by Harlequins. He spent 2005 on loan to Hull FC, where he played a prominent role in their senior academy Grand Final winning season. He will be looking to add to the 25 appearances he already has for Quins, and having been handed the number 11 shirt for 2008, is clearly rated highly by coach Brian McDermott. He has been tipped as a future England international, and may be an outsider for a World Cup spot.
