Cumbrian back rower Purdham oozes quality, and he has been an integral part of the Harlequins side since arriving from Whitehaven in 2002. Club captain, Purdham has also captained England in the past, although hasn't been able to make the step up to Great Britain. He will be hopeful, however, of earning a World Cup place if he can stay clear of injury.
Purdham is also an accomplished goalkicker, whilst his ability to fill in a wide range of positions, from loose forward and second row to centre and stand off is invaluable to coach Brian McDermott. He has made over 100 appearances for the London club, and will be looking to add considerably to that number in 2008.
