Like Rikki Sheriffe, Mbu was thankful to Quins for rescuing him after Doncaster's audacious bid to launch a full time outfit in NL1 fell on stony ground. The powerful second rower had been captain of the Lakers side for half a season, but when his contract became null and void, he returned to Harlequins, with whom he had played for between 2003 and 2006.
He was loaned out to Huddersfield and Leeds in his early days in London to gain experience in their academy sides, with the London club not having their own Under 21 outfit.
