Transfer Gossip 10

Transfer Gossip 10

With attention now firmly focused on the play-offs, gossip surrounding the big clubs has subsided. However, with the season well and truly over for everybody else, what rumours are doing the rounds this week?

Chris Thorman, Hull to rugby union
Former Giants favourite Chris Thorman has denied that he will be joining Huddersfield’s West Yorkshire rivals Bradford Bulls. The 28-year-old utility back, who has been released by Hull FC, said he was looking at his options but was not setting his sights on Odsal. Thorman said: “I have a few options, including rugby union, but it won’t be Bradford.” (Source: Huddersfield Examiner)

Brian Noble, Wigan to Celtic
Rumours of Brian Noble making a shock move to Wales, which first surfaced in July, are no longer being dismissed. He conceded publicly for the first time last week that his departure from Wigan when his contract expires at the end of this season is now inevitable and the willingness of the most successful British coach in decades to join the Crusaders will send a strong message that the game remains serious about securing a long-term future in south Wales despite this year's tribulations. Iestyn Harris, Featherstone to Celtic

The latest speculation is that the former Wales dual-code international Iestyn Harris may be tempted back south to work with Noble, with whom he has retained a close friendship since their days together at Bradford. (Source: The Guardian)

Shad Royston, Halifax to Celtic
Celtic Crusaders are keeping tabs on Halifax utility player Shad Royston as they look to re-build for the 2010 season. Royston, who prefers to play at full back but has featured at centre and in the back row for Fax, is out of contract at the end of the season and has previously played for Batley and Doncaster. Kieran Foran, Manly to NZ Warriors

The Warriors are distancing themselves from speculation the National Rugby League club will make a move for Manly's young New Zealand playmaker Kieran Foran. The Auckland-born Foran made an impressive start to his career this season with some strong performances for the Sea Eagles but Scurrah says he hasn't been earmarked as a replacement for retiring halfback Stacey Jones. Heard that Royston wont be the only lower league star heading to Crusaders. They have been linked with Andy Ellis from Barrow.

Brad Fittler may not be heading to Wigan after all, with reports indicating that he is preparing to fly into London over the coming weeks, but his final destination being Twickenham not Wigan

In response to Jim Carter: Heath L'Estrange would still count on Bradford's quota regardless of whether he was French or Australian. They only have six spots available (five Aus/NZ, one non-fed).

As they have L'Estrange, Menzies, Nero and Hall on the quota, they only have two spots available. Brett Kearney is the one strongly linked - and which Bradford have confirmed their interest in - so that would take them to five.

Israel Folau will not goto them, purely because he would cost too much; Moi Moi is also linked with a move to Warrington.

And also, if you are an NRL Official, I would be deeply disappointed if you chose to post all this stuff on websites.

Mark Fullilove....

this will be announced in 10 days

Jim: Stop feeling as though everyone is out to get you. I merely questioned your information - as I'm sure you'll agree any journalist should do - because you said things weren't technically correct. I was merely clarifying your information. But also as I said, I'm sure your employer - if that is correct - would not agree to you posting privileged and also sensitive information such as this on the Internet, whilst also posting your surname in the process.
