Transfer Gossip 7

The latest gossip from our rumour mill.

Chris Walker, Gold Coast to Bradford
Bradford Bulls have made an offer to Gold Coast Titans winger Chris Walker, according to the Queensland club. The Titans made the revelation after Walker accused the club of showing him "a lack of respect" over their latest contract offer. "There are no hard feelings against the club at all but if they can't show me respect then we will have to part ways," Walker told Australia's Rugby League Week magazine. Gold Coast chief executive Michael Searle retorted: "The offer is off the table. He's had a £100,000 offer from Bradford and he should take it. We are not an ATM with an unlimited supply of cash." Lote Tuqiri, Rugby union to Sydney Roosters

The Sydney Roosters are now favoured to win the signature of axed wallabies star Lote Tuqiri who is set to return to rugby league. Tuqiri, who is involved in court action against the Australian Rugby Union for alleged unfair dismissal after having his contract terminated, appears happy to take a paycut to return to the NRL. It seems the Roosters will be able to up the ante for Tuqiri but cutting Setaimata Sa with the utility's significant contract freeing up money. The Roosters remain publically coy. "We haven't had any discussions with Lote Tuqiri's management or Lote," Roosters CEO Steve Noyce told The Australian newspaper. "It's common for people to think that clubs will always be interested in those quality of players." (Source: New Zealand Stuff)

Adrian Purtell, Canberra to Celtic
Canberra winger Adrian Purtell has been linked with a move to the Celtic Crusaders - and NRL clubs are bracing for more to go following the deportation of six Australians from the Welsh club after an investigation into their visas. The Herald understands the Crusaders had lodged an offer for Purtell even before six Crusaders - including former NRL players Josh Hannay and Darren Mapp - were told they would be forced to leave Britain and banned from returning, even on holiday, for 10 years. The Raiders will not stand in the way of Purtell, who has been out of favour under coach David Furner, leaving the club, although they may face a payout with the 24-year-old under contract with the club for the next two seasons. Mark Flanagan, Wigan to Wests
The Australian magazine Rugby League Week claims that Wests Tigers have signed Wigan loose forward Mark Flanagan, who is out of contract with the Warriors at the end of the season. Last Tackle reported last week that Flanagan was planning to move down under to the NRL, and it seems Wests have won the chase for his signature.

Ray Cashmere, Salford to NRL

The Salford prop has sounded out clubs in the NRL for a return down under after a frustrating debut season in Super League. A solid performer, Cashmere has been left disappointed by Salford's poor league form. He joined the Reds following their promotion at the start of this season, and has previously played in the NRL for Wests and North Queensland. He signed a three year contract just 24 hours after Salford were granted a Super League licence in 2008.

Daniel Fitzhenry, Hull KR to Wests
NRL Premiership winner Daniel Fitzhenry is set to return to the NRL with former club Wests when his current deal at Hull KR is up at the end of the season. Fitzhenry made 119 appearances for the Tigers before moving to Hull KR at the beginning of the 2008 season. The winger, who has also featured at hooker and full back for the Rovers, has made 43 Super League appearances, scoring 13 tries.

It wil be sad to see Ray Cashmere go home early, but in saying that if the lad is home sick then whats the point in staying here in England.

Salford City Reds will miss big Ray but that's life and we must a.s.a.p. get a replacement for him in time for next season.

Good Luck Ray to you and your family if you decide to return home.
