Transfer Gossip

Wakefield this week announced the deal to take Terry Newton to Belle Vue for 2010, but what else is in the pipeline?

Danny Tickle, Hull to Warrington
Warrington reportedly have signed Hull FC goal kicking king Danny Tickle on a two-year deal. Tickle, 26, has scored in every one of Hull's games this season, chalking up 61 goals. The former Wigan and Halifax star will play for Wolves for next season and the move represents a massive coup for Warrington boss Tony Smith. (Source: News of the World)

Darren Lockyer, Brisbane to Warrington
Warrington owner Simon Moran is to move for Brisbane star Darren Lockyer as he looks to invest in a squad capable of challenging for the top honours in Super League under the guidance of coach Tony Smith. Lockyer is out of contract at the Broncos and has previously expressed a desire to play in the UK.

Danny Brough, Wakefield to Huddersfield
Wakefield fans will be hoping that the club won’t be tempted to sell scrum-half Danny Brough if Huddersfield come calling with a cheque for £100,000. Warrington have already off-loaded Martin Gleeson to Wigan for a similar amount – and in these recession-hit times that’s a big bundle of money for the Wildcats to turn down. After seeing moves for Todd Carney and Nathan Fien collapse, Huddersfield are still in the market for a half-back with a top-class kicking game – and Brough possesses one of the best in Super League. Jordan Turner, Salford to Hull
Young Salford prospect Jordan Turner has rejected a new deal at The Willows and is to sign for Hull FC from 2010. Turner has played much of the season in the centres, despite impressing for the Reds in their promotion campaign last season at loose forward. Salford are looking to revamp their squad and are expected to lose Turner and a whole host of other stars with Shaun McRae starting from scratch in 2010.

Kevin Penny, Widnes to Warrington
Warrington could recall on-loan winger Kevin Penny for this weekend's clash with Salford if full back Richie Mathers is handed a lengthy ban, after he was charged with a grade C offence following Sunday's defeat at Huddersfield. Penny has been on loan at the Vikings since May and scored two tries in their Northern Rail Cup Final win over Barrow ten days ago.
