Rugby league is known as the greatest game, and part of this is down to you, the fans.

Our new feature will aim to find out more about the greatest fans in the world, find out their memories and opinions of rugby league. The idea is that we'll cover as wide-a-berth as possible in terms of clubs.

This week's fanzone features Salford City Reds fan, James Rowley.

Asked why the Reds, James commented: "I was born and bred in Salford, it's as simple as that. My first game was 45 years ago, and no, I can't remember that far back!

His best and worst memories of supporting the Reds are almost entwined.

"I would probably say losing at Wembley in 1969 (11-6 against Castleford in front of 97,939 fans) and losing to Sheffield Eagles in the Challenge Cup semi-final at Leeds a few years ago now."

Sadly, those days may well be behind Salford, who James believes don't have a future without their proposed new stadium. Under the guidance of Shaun McRae, the Reds have picked up some good wins this season, but have struggled for consistency.

James added: "This season has been very hot and cold, but the signs are clearly there to see what head coach McRae has in mind for the future."

Despite supporting a club who benefited from the introduction of the Super League licensing system, James says he doesn't agree with it full stop, and isn't too upbeat about the future of rugby league.

"Sadly it's all down to money I'm afraid, I'd hate to think what would happen without SKY these days."
